Binary Reality

Reality is ultimately binary. It has only two primary components.

God. And his handiwork.

God is self-existent. He has been alive forever in his triune personhood, independent of any cause.

He created the building blocks of everything else in every realm, e.g., energy, matter, time, space.

Thus, the existence of God accounts for the presence of all that is not him.

Nothing exists inside the bounds of his creation apart from him. Nothing exists outside the bounds of his creation but him.

Therefore, to formulate an accurate worldview, we must acknowledge the existence of God in all his fullness and assimilate the truths he has revealed in Scripture.

We cannot correctly answer the big questions in life—who we are, how we got here, why we are here, how life got messed up, what we can do about it, and how everything turns out—if we deny his existence, downplay his excellence, or disregard his revelation.

This is why the Bible says that knowledge of God is the basis of all understanding.

And reverence for him is the beginning of wisdom.
