Reality is ultimately binary. It has only two primary components. God. And his handiwork.
God is self-existent. He has been alive forever in his triune personhood, independent of any cause. He created the building blocks of everything else, energy, matter, time, and space.
Thus, the existence of God accounts for the presence of all that is not him. Nothing exists outside the bounds of his creation except him.
Therefore, the foundation of an accurate worldview is a belief in God and an understanding of his true nature.
We cannot accurately answer the big questions about life—who we are, how we got here, why we are here, how life got messed up, what we can do about it, and how everything turns out—if we deny his existence or misunderstand his nature.
Proverbs 9:10 puts it this way. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
